Brazilian synthpop duo Club America invited me to create an animated music video for the second single from their album "To Get There" (2013). Blessed with complete creative freedom I've decided to tell a cartoonish delirious tale about their encounter with north american hip hop artist Da Deputy.

This is a three months work, made all digitally. I'm happy I could count on my friend Vitor Cervi to do the animation on a couple of scenes, and of course with the help of my beloved lady Talita Annunciato, who was with me through all the process and with whom I bounced all the ideas.

The mechanical life form Ohm inhabits a bleak and devastated planet. The thousands of mechanical creatures of this world share a single cycle of energy. In this cycle, Ohm is a rogue element. His nature is to devour and absorb others. When one day a gargantuan foreign object appears in the skies. Drawn in by mysterious creatures of light, the Ohm tracks them across the planet, changing the known order of matter, time and space.

Directed by Eva Franz and Andy Goralczyk this extraordinary animated short film fuses high-end CGI and photographic images, miniature sets and traditional stop-motion puppet animation.

A student girl, disapeared on a summer night;
A photographer in an abandoned school;
Reality and past don't have a meaning anymore.
The two characters, unknown for each other, finally meet, as if by magic:
They don't really understand each other, and exchange a speechless glance in the peaceful ruins.
Incomprehension, then separation.
A photo exhibition will reunite them one last time, allowing the ghost of the past to give her farewell message for the future.
The photographer seems like the only one capable to understand,
As if they had both lived together in this old school, when it used to be filled with the laughs of children...

Une exposition les réunira une ultime fois, permettant à un fantôme du passé d’apporter son message d’adieu.
Seul l’auteur des clichés semble à même de pouvoir le comprendre,
Comme s’ils avaient tous deux connu cette école jadis, riant avec d’autres enfants...
